    What is UFO Random?

UFO Random is a random name picker game set in a schoolyard. Use it to pick a student to answer a question, solve a problem, or join a classroom activity. The class can follow uniformed characters as they are beamed up together. The first student to reach the UFO is picked, and the results also show the second and third arrivals.

    How to play UFO Random

    1. Enter student names, one per line. Each name becomes a separate student in the schoolyard.
    2. Choose a round duration: 10, 15, or 25 seconds.
    3. Select “Send in the UFO”. Its beam covers the schoolyard and everyone rises together at different speeds.
    4. The first student to reach the UFO is Top 1 and gets picked. Everyone boards before Top 1, Top 2, and Top 3 are shown in arrival order. Start a new round to continue.

Use full screen when projecting for your class. Names stay in your browser and are shared with the other tools on this site.

    Who gets picked?

Every entry has the same chance of being picked. Arrival order is shuffled each round; results show up to the first three students aboard. Only Top 1 is picked. With removal enabled, only Top 1 is excluded from the next round; Top 2 and Top 3 remain eligible. Add a surname or number to distinguish students who share a name.

The tool is free and requires no account. Open the page, enter student names, and select “Send in the UFO” to start.

How many students can I enter?

Each round accepts up to 60 names, one student per line. Add surnames or numbers to distinguish students with the same name. If you enter more than 60 lines, only the first 60 are used, and a count appears below the list.
